In Operation: Monster Storms, you'll meet scientists who dash into the tornado's path and fly into the hurricane's eye! These five host researchers are the guides who explain the science and work with students to unlock the mysteries of extreme weather.

Video Resource Meet the Researchers
Each year, JASON selects host researchers from NOAA, NASA, and National Geographic. To learn more about the host researchers featured in the Operation: Monster Storms curriculum, preview the sample Meet the Researchers video.

Our Operation: Monster Storms researchers include:
Anthony Guillory Anthony Guillory
NASA's Wallops Flight Facility
Host Researcher, Mission 1

Anthony launches remote-controlled airplanes into storms to gather important data used to protect lives and property. He has also helped build weather stations for rural towns to give them up-to-the-minute weather forecasts.

Robbie Hood Robbie Hood
NASA's Wallops Flight Facility
Host Researcher, Mission 2

Robbie lived through one of the most devastating hurricanes of the 20th century, Hurricane Camille. She uses airplanes and satellites to study rainfall in tropical storms and hurricanes.

Tim Samaras Tim Samaras
National Geographic Emerging Explorer and Storm Chaser
Host Researcher, Mission 3

Tim became interested in tornadoes as a boy when he watched The Wizard of Oz. Now he chases them, getting up-close and personal to learn more about these awesome forces of nature.

Jason Dunion Jason Dunion
NOAA's Hurricane Research Division
Host Researcher, Mission 4

Before Jason became a hurricane hunter, he was a social worker, because he wanted to help people. Today, he helps all of us by flying into hurricanes to improve forecasting and tracking.

Shirley Murrillo Shirley Murrillo
NOAA's Hurricane Research Division
Host Researcher, Mission 5

Ever since Shirley lived through Hurricane Andrew in Miami, she wanted to learn more about their destructive potential. She started working with NOAA as a high school intern and now is part of the crew on NOAA's flying weather laboratories.
