| In Operation: Infinite Potential, you'll meet scientists who study energy from the sun, petroleum, tsunamis, and even alpaca droppings! These five host researchers are the guides who explain the science and work with students to unlock the potential power of learning about energy. | Meet the Researchers Each year, JASON selects host researchers from NOAA, NASA, and National Geographic. To learn more about the host researchers featured in the Operation: Infinite Potential curriculum, preview the sample Meet the Researchers video. | | Our Operation: Infinite Potential researchers include: | | | | Dr. Janet Green Space Weather Physicist at NOAA Host Researcher, Mission 1
Janet is a physicist with an interest in the sun and its impact on satellites, communication systems, and power grids. Before working for NOAA, she was a video game tester, assigned the task of "breaking" the games she worked with to improve their playability. | | | | | Dr. Vasily Titov Director, NOAA Center for Tsunami Research Host Researcher, Mission 2
Vasily's mathematics background and interest in tsunamis comes together as he develops computer models that predict the impact these waves have on coasts and in harbors around the world. He is very concerned with protecting people from the events he studies. | | | | | Dr. Larry Shadle Research Group Leader, National Energy Technology Lab Host Researcher, Mission 3
Coal has been Larry's professional pursuit. Burning coal more efficiently and cleaning up its emissions has been his focus for his entire career. He was motivated to pursue fuel sciences when President Carter called for the United States to conserve energy and explore alternate forms during an energy crisis. | | | | | Dr. Martin Keller Director of the BioEnergy Science Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory Host Researcher, Mission 4
Microbes have been at the center of Martin's research. From the origins of life on Earth to commercial applications in Biotech, Martin has worked on major research projects in Germany, San Diego, and now at ORNL. | | | | | Constance Adams National Geographic Emerging Explorer and Space Architect Host Researcher, Mission 5
From the ISS to potentially Mars, but even back here on Earth, Constance looks to use energy in the most efficient ways possible utilizing local materials, elegant design, and science to make her structures aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. | | | | | | | | | |
