| Every year, an elite group of National Student and Teacher Argonauts are selected to conduct hands-on fieldwork with JASON host researchers through an international competition. Before deploying, they attend an intensive "boot camp" where they meet the Mission researchers, learn the protocols for scientific investigation and conduct team-building. Their fieldwork, captured in multimedia and print, forms the basis for each curriculum. These Argonauts become mentors and role models to the entire JASON community and science ambassadors at large. Since its founding, JASON has sent more than 400 students and teachers into the field as National Argonauts.
