In Her Own Words
On Heroes and Inspiration
I have many heroes in my life but my family and my teachers inspire me the most.
Throughout my life, my family has always been there for me, supporting my accomplishments in everything I participate in. Each one of my family members is a good role model, and they give me people to look up to. With the help and encouragement of my family, I can go far in life.
My teachers have inspired me to go after every opportunity in life. Throughout my school career, each one of my teachers has told me that I can do anything I put my mind to! Each teacher has provided me with important knowledge and skills that I am going to need for the rest of my life. I truly believe that I can achieve my goals with the help of my education.
On Wearing a Bunny Suit
Today I got to wear a special outfit that people use while dealing with equipment for satellites…a bunny suit! Even though the bunny suit looks ridiculous it serves a big purpose. At the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, they use the bunny suits to keep dust and other particles out of the Clean Room and off of the technology and satellite equipment. Dancing around in a big white bunny suit is pretty fun, but not as fun as spending time with your fellow Argonauts, learning about space weather in Colorado. This experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget!
On Being on Capitol Hill
After our green-tour of the Washington Nationals baseball stadium, we all hopped in taxicabs and headed to the capitol building to meet up with Congressman Mollohan. When we got to the capitol, Rep. Mollohan ended up being busy so we grabbed some lunch from the House of Representatives building across the street. The congressman really wanted to meet with us so he left a meeting for about fifteen minutes to speak with us. We all asked some good questions about coal and energy efficiency.
What JASON Means to Me
The JASON Project has provided me with the experience of a lifetime! I truly believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience science in the engaging and beneficial way that JASON uses to teach. When you participate in the curriculum you don't even realize that you are actually learning! The JASON Project has helped gear me towards a science-related career path. I have realized that science is the field that I want to stay involved in throughout my life! The most rewarding thing about being an Argonaut is showing other kids at home that science can actually be fun and beneficial at the same time. By having the opportunity to be an Argonaut, I could share my experience with students in the classroom.
The JASON Project has taught me about how crucial science is in our world today. I have learned that science isn't all about reading out of a textbook to learn about the world we live in. Science is something that causes you to go out and actually experience everything that this life has to offer you. There is so much to learn about and when you can have a good time learning, what is not to love? Through the JASON program, I have expanded my horizons and learned more about the place where I live and beyond. I feel very well prepared for everything that this life has to offer!
