Coral Polyp

What looked like flowers to the fishermen who fished the shallows of FGBNMS, corals on the reef are made up of tiny animals called polyps. Polyps are nearly transparent, revealing their calcium carbonate base which is white. The color comes from the pigments in their algal partners.
