With the Team
My trip to Wisconsin has been amazing. Some of my favorite things we did were attending the teleconference, snorkeling in a wet suit, going to a “Safe House,” eating at a drive-in, and driving a boat. Yes, as impossible as it seems, I did all this and more during my week here.

The first day we were actually doing activities besides waiting in an airport. We had a teleconference with Dr. John Knox and his class at the University of Georgia. It was really cool. It is so amazing to see the person you are talking to live. It is like something out of "The Jetsons."

Also on Monday, we were given a map with the general location of a restaurant and then we had to find it ourselves. It proved to be quite a challenge, especially when we asked a security guard how to get

to the skywalk, and he pointed us in the wrong direction! At the Safe House restaurantthere is a secret telephone booth. I was so scared that I was clinging to Argo Matheus and Argo Neil!

I also really liked snorkeling and swimming in Gaye-Lynn’s quarry. The only other time I had been snorkeling was in Lake Erie, and I had been too scared to open my eyes. This time I actually opened them, and I got to wear a fully body wet suit. The suit was uncomfortable, comfy, warm, and cold all at the same time. Pretty much nothing can compare to it.

When we were done at the quarry, we ate at a drive in. It proved to be quite a challenge to find. Once we were there we were all impressed by it. Most of us had never seen anything like it. It was so old fashioned and nifty.

Then on Thursday, when we were on the Len-der, I got to drive the boat. It was really fun, but hard, especially considering my hand-eye coordination, or lack there of.  I was also amazed that the owner, Jerry, would let me drive his boat without a second thought, especially when I know that when I get my permit in a couple of years, they’ll have a hard time letting me drive cars!

I collect smiley faces. Since Summer Fest is currently going on here in Milwaukee, there are smiley faces for it all over the city. I have so many smiley face pictures now. It was a really nice surprise, especially when I got to see the "Have a Nice Day Café."

Overall, my trip here has been priceless. It has definitely been a unique trip. With as much fun as Boot Camp has been, I can’t wait to see what my field assignment has in store for me.
