Eighth-grader Gerardo Cano Islas from the Latin American School of Monterrey in Nueva Leon, Mexico is a hard worker, determined to learn more about the world's various ecosystems.  Since a young age, he has been fascinated by animals and enjoys watching them in their natural habitats.

Gerardo participates in numerous extracurricular activities, including Tae Kwon Do and soccer. For the past five years, Gerardo has entered in his school's science fair, earning first-and-second place awards.
