Marti Dekker is a teacher from Woodbridge Elementary School in Zeeland, Michigan. Her interest in science grew through world travel. Ms. Dekker has lead students and teachers to rainforests and highlands in Peru and Costa Rica. During her 23-years of teaching, she taught middle school, high school, talented-and-gifted and currently teaches fourth-grade. She hopes to benefit the JASON Project with her previous research experience and her love for the outdoors and physical activities.
As an exceptional teacher, Ms. Dekker has been recognized numerous times. She was the recipient of the 2004 Sehi Technology Award and the 2004 Michigan Consortium Grant. She is a member of the National Science Teacher's Association, U.S. Dressage Federation, Conservation International and Nature Conservancy.
